The Ministry of Food Processing Industries promotes food processing in India. It aims to offer an adequate quantity of quality products to consumers at affordable prices, initiate innovative and improved production methods, and integrate regional and global markets.

The main objective of the Scheme is to create processing and preservation capacities and modernize existing food processing units to increase the level of processing, value addition, leading to reduction of wastage. The mission of the Scheme is to create a processing and preservation capacity to augment farmers incomes.

The activities undertaken by the individual units cover a wide range of post-harvest processes resulting in value addition and/or enhancing shelf life with specialized facilities required for the preservation of perishables. While the expansion of food processing capacity is necessary to increase the level of processing and reduce wastage, the induction of modern technology is essential for ensuring the effective and efficient operation of the different units.

Project Cost :

All eligible costs will be included in the final proposal amount. This includes the cost of mechanical and civil engineering work, equipment, etc. Just remember that direct costs associated with ineligible applicants or those that are not part of your project cannot count towards your total project cost.

Including the cost of plant and machinery, and technical civil work, including applicable taxes except for ineligible items mentioned earlier. Costs related to utilities will be included, as long as they are essential for the plant, such as water pipeline, energy generating set (DG set), transformers, boilers, solid waste treatment services (set of equipment), and electronic transfer pumps (ETPs).

Includes the cost of plant & machinery and technical civil work, including taxes.

The pattern of Assistance:

We envision processing grant-in-aid for the development of affordable housing in India. 35% of the eligible project cost subject to a maximum of Rs. 5.00 crore in General Areas; 50% of the eligible project cost subject to a maximum of Rs. 5.00 crore in the North Eastern States, states notified as ITDP areas and islands.

Applications are accepted from start-up companies to large corporations.
